New RGCC Head Coach!

Travis began his crew coaching career in 2005, when he joined RGCC as the freshman/novice coach. That year, the freshman placed 5th at the SRAA regatta, the first time a RGCC boat made the final. In 2007 Travis was named head coach. During his tenure, he moved RGCC to the Hines Rowing Center and started both the fall rowing and the summer learn-to-row programs. “I am eager to rejoin the team and build upon last year’s success,” Travis commented. “Margaret and the staff have done a tremendous job. I look forward to getting to know all the athletes and families and help lead this thriving program once again.”After leaving RGCC in 2010, Travis continued his involvement in the sport by running his own boat repair and restoration company and working as a boatman at Vesper Boat Club (2011-2013), where he also restarted the dormant summer junior competitive team. From 2013 to 2017, he was the boatman for Dartmouth College. After Dartmouth, Travis took some time off to travel and help take care of his newborn niece, Sylvia. A Philadelphia-area local, Travis attended Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School. He learned to row while attending the University of Wisconsin, where he earned gold medals at both the Eastern Sprints and IRA National Championship regattas.
